There's writing rules, and then there's writing rules for a specific column-inches... I'm not making it to GenCon this year, but some buddies of mine are. I really do appreciate your support. It really helps when I know that there are people out there playing attention. Especially when I'm having a week like this one.

Wife just had major surgery, which I was expecting and had planned for. What I wasn't expecting was that I'd sprain my knee 4 days before that playing VR (yes really), that my oldest kid (already recovering from stitches) would sprain his foot running in the kitchen, or that the firkin dog would sprain HER leg yesterday running in the yard. That's just a taste of the farce. There's more, but it would take too long to explain.

Anyway, I'm about 1/3 done with the Action Phase, which is the last major section I need to finish before Gencon. It'll get done, but I need to get all of these distractions out of the way first.

Re: WarStrike: The M42 Project: Movement Phase Changes

Hey there SandWyrm! No specific comments on the rules, but it's great to see you posting and working on it. That would be a typo. You'll never roll anything but a D10 in the game. :)

Thanks for de-cloaking to tell me about it Zirkah!

Don't ever be afraid to ask questions, share your opinions, or anything else here. My skin is very thick, and I'm always open to being wrong about things. The game wouldn't be what it is today if I hadn't made drastic changes several times in response to feedback. The most recent being the axing of almost all of the complicated building rules that I'd spent hundreds of hours on.

Re: WarStrike: The M42 Project: New D10 Rolling Overview

Long time lurker, glad to see things are picking up steam. I'm not familiar with all the rules, but is the Reaper test meant to be taken with a d6 or is that a typo? I thought I read the d6 was only for tracking initiative.

Zirkah

Re: WarStrike: The M42 Project: "So Is Anything Happening?"

Art Portfolio eh? Though I applaud any attempt to reduce the use of a lot of people's least favourite letter (after G and W obviously), unilateral moves in this direction could be risky. It seems to me that securing international agreement by consensual 'D treaties' is the best way to ensure progress towards a D free world...

Re: WarStrike: The M42 Project: New Quick Reference Guide & Test Units

Oh, there's bad grammar all over that thing. This kind of opinion-seeking post is exactly the thing I needed to break through the inertia and anxiety that built up when I dropped off the map again thanks to a sudden health downturn (I think I might have serious respiratory problems >.<')

On the one hand, the obsessive parts of my brain are telling me "WE NEED CLOSED BUILDING RULES", but the more rational parts are telling me that you're right and that they're unnecessary in this modern age of terrain design.

I vote that we don't need them. We're not trying to make a game using GW scenery, we're trying to make a game using the scenery that people are likely to actually have.
PLUS closed-buildings-as-impassable terrain STILL aren't useless or pointless: you can use the door as an objective or something.
